Title Design and Implementation of Directory Service for Future IoT Applications
  Abstract For Internet of Things (IoT) we need a new type of directory service system that can store a huge number of records about IoT devices and perform their fast lookup and update. It should be more advance than the current DNS in terms of its capability to perform record lookup by heterogeneous types of keys (i.e. not only name), provide quick lookup service (latency of few millisecond), and allow dynamic update of records (latency of a few seconds). In this report, we present our proposal of such an IoT directory service for future IoT applications. It performs proactive caching of the records in various places (e.g. by following the mobility of IoT application clients) by dynamically assigning and adjusting virtualized network and computing resources so that it can maintain low lookup latency. We report on our preliminary implementation of some components of the proposed directory service system by using a NoSQL database and present the evaluation results.
